Well, we are well into the year now and are looking forward to the fall break ahead. This doesn't mean we can take a total vacation from learning. Please read with your child each night over the break, as well as any other night, and start practicing those math facts. You can make them or they have them in the dollar spot at Target. Our standards want us to memorize addition and subtraction facts up to sums of 18. Also, if you haven't contributed to our "math belts" please do so if you are able. We are coming up a little short to order them. Thanks so much!
In Science, we have begun discussing weather and seasons. Part of your child's homework over the break will be to keep a weather journal. In math, we are continuing addition and subtraction, as well as fair trades with money up to 30 cents. We are happy that our whole class can count by 10's, most by 5's and can write our numbers to 100!! In Language Arts, we have worked on nouns. Ask your child from time to time what category the nouns around you go in, such as person, place or thing. Please get them to write for you any opportunity you get! If you go somewhere or do something fun, have them come home and write about it. Encourage as many details as possible.
