Fall pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October 7th.  We will be taking individual pictures & class pictures.  Order forms were sent home on Tuesday, Sept. 29th.

Clarkdale Elementary School - Assistance Needed

The Cobb Schools Foundation is saddened by the news of displaced students, teachers and families throughout Cobb County.  We want to let you know that we are working hard to coordinate relief efforts in our office. 

We are pleased to be able to assist in the relief efforts for Clarkdale Elementary School and are currently accepting monetary and gift card donations through the Foundation at www.cobbk12.org.   There is a link on the home page of the school district to make a secure online contribution to the Foundation.  All contributions are tax-deductible.  Cash, check, and gift card donations can also be mailed to the Foundation at 514 Glover Street, Marietta, GA 30060.

Donations of school supplies and teacher instructional supplies can be made at your local Cobb County School.  The warehouse staff will pick up donations at your school and take them to the warehouse for distribution to Clarkdale students and teachers.

Be a Hero and Help the Kids of Clarkdale Elementary!

 

This week, our community was slammed by drenching rains which caused serious flooding in many parts of the Atlanta metro area.  If you watch 11Alive News, you’ve seen the shocking photos of Clarkdale Elementary School in Austell. The teachers and students of Clarkdale were forced to evacuate quickly as the flood waters poured in and destroyed their beloved school   Everything had to be left behind:  lesson plans, books, bookbags, computers, paper and pencils. Many of the children lost not only their school, but their homes as well.   Getting back on their feet won’t be easy, but now you can do something to help.      

Today through Sunday, support the Clarkdale Elementary Flood  Relief Drive and stop by any metro area School Box location with a box of brand new school supplies.  You can find everything you need inside the School Box or just drop them off.  And this Monday, September 28, from 5:45pm until 7:30pm, 11Alive will be on site at Ewing Road Baptist Church (4699 Ewing Road, Austell Georgia 30106) to cheer on the Clarkdale Elementary students as they pick up their new supplies. School officials and 11Alive employees will be there to help sort and organize the materials.

This is a tough time for many of our friends and neighbors, but it can be your chance to give back to your community in a very personal way. Join 11Alive’s Hero Central in supporting the Clarkdale Elementary Flood Relief Drive!

Yearbooks on Sale!!!

 

Yearbooks are on sale for the 2009-2010 school year! 

• Yearbooks will be soft cover this year (no hardcovers)
  
• The cost will be $22.00 before winter break and $25.00 after break

Skills Tutor

Students have been trained on Skills Tutor and used it last school year at Blackwell.  This software program reviews skills and gives the student their score right away.  This is a GREAT tool for math facts practice!!!

Fall Festival - October 2nd

The 2009 Blackwell Elementary Fall Festival is quickly approaching! Fall Festival is an evening filled with fun for the whole family. We have food, games, bounces, cake walks…something for everyone! The kids and the community have so much fun and we raise funds for the Blackwell Foundation-which benefits all of our children by providing new technology in the classroom!    Invite your family & friends!

 

This year we are going to have a Silent Auction at Fall Festival.  The theme for out basket is:  Hot Wheels.  Donations are due by 9/25/09.  Please click on the link below for details.

4th Grade T-shirts

Order forms for class t-shirts will be coming home next Tuesday in Home Folders.  Our class t-shirt color will be red with a bulldog (image to the left of this text but black).  The year/grade level will NOT be on the shirt so the students can wear the shirt again next year.  T-shirts will only be $5.00 this year.  Please consider ordering one for your child.  We will wear them on Fridays to show school spirit, for Field Day and on any field trips we may have.
