I hope that everyone had a great labor day weekend!
I want to thank all of the parents for their continued support with behavior expectations in our clasroom. They really are improving and this will improve learning for everyone.
Here are some news, notes, and reminders for our class this month:
We have learned a lot about Leila and Ryan these past two weeks. We enjoyed getting to know them as our Stars of the Week in August. We look forward to getting to know Caelin next week, September 14-18.
In honor of 9/11, students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue on Friday, September 11th.
We will be celebrating a birthday this week! Happy Birthday to Cierra as she turns 7 on Thursday!
CogAT testing is this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep and and healthy breakfast in the morning. Also, remember to be on time!
I am placing a book order form in folders on Tuesday. It's a great way to add to your child's book collection for less money, plus it will earn great books for our classroom as well.
Class t-shirt money is due Friday, September 18th.
We have finished our study of weather but will continue to observe the changes during each season. We have begun learning about our continent, country, state, city and county this past week. Students should be able to locate this on a map.
Here is a great website about our country and government: http://bensguide.gpo.gov/
Soon we will be studying landforms, maps (continents and oceans), and Benjamin Franklin.
Congratulations to Riley, Joseph, Sierra, and Cierra for completing the 200 Words Club! Way to go!
This week we are also learning about nouns or naming words. Here are some websites: www.writingfix.com/forkids/noungame.htm and www.classroom.jc-schools.net/la/activities/nouns.html
Our September Star of the month will be revealed this week......
