It's hard to believe we have been in school for almost two weeks! The children are starting to get used to first grade. Please remember that at the start of the year, there are often a lot of behavior issues because the children are trying to get used to a new routine. I have seen improvement in everyone and hope to keep seeing it! Please discuss with your child the expectations and review rules about talking at appropriate times, raising your hand, and staying on task. Remember that a "3" for behavior is good!
We are studying weather in science. We are discussing the seasons, the tools used to measure weather and how weather changes. We will be discussing weather all year as the seasons change. We are discussing how weather affects our lives. Here are some great websites for weather:

We will also be starting addition next week. Encourage your child to think of situations where we need to know how to add, such as knowing how many drinks you might need when you pack a lunch for the family. Encourage problem solving skills with your child.
