Hat Day is on Friday, September 30th....your child may wear a hat to school on hat day if he/she pays 50 cents which goes to the American Cancer Society.

Reading:  analyze elements of a story, character's purpose

L. Arts:  identifying nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs in a sentence

Writing:  Narrative

Spelling:  short and long vowel sounds in first and second syllable ....a great website is

This website is great for practicing ones spelling words, you type them in and then play different spelling games using your spelling words.

Math:  multiplication

Science:  Weather

Health:  Fire Safety  (Tomorrow is our fire safety test, I am sending home the pretest your child took, and he or she can go over the answers and correct the ones that are wrong).

We want to thank our troops for all that they do for us.  We will write letters in school, but if you and your family would like to write more letters at home the guidelines are attached.  Please send the letters in your child's folder and I will be sure to get them to the correct place.

We hope you all enjoyed the long Labor Day weekend.  We just want to update you on what your child will study this week in school.

Reading:  informational text, locating facts, finding connections to a text

Writing:  Personal narrative

English:  Sentence structure

Math:  Rounding decimals

Science:  Water Cycle, Cloud formation

Health:  Fire Safety

We had our first fire safety lesson yesterday.  A firefighter came to our class to discuss fire safety with the children.  Your child will have fire safety homework every night this week.  The reading may count toward the 20 minutes of reading on the reading log.  Each day the fire safety book needs to come back to class. 

Monday, September 12th:  Stevie B's night

Tuesday, September 13th:  Safety Village Field Trip/ Open House

Thursday, September 15th:  Chick-fil-a in the car pool lane benefiting our Blackwell Foundation.  If your child buys a Chick-fil-a, he/she may eat it in our classroom
