We are all doing very well diving into our second week of school. It was so nice to see our 3rd grade class move on up to 4th grade with Mrs. Nassar and I. We have a few new students, as well, which we are so happy to have join us. The students remember our expectations well and have shared their thoughts with our new students. The children seem to like having tables to work on in lieu of desks. So far, it has helped everyone to stay organized. I have been quite impressed.
Here is a look into our studies this week...
Reading: Dancing Around the World is our book of study this week. We will work on vocabulary, fluency, expression, informational text
Language Arts: Parts of a sentence (ask your child to sing our "sentence" jingle), 4 types of sentences (declarative, imperative, interrogative, and exclamatory)
Writing: Personal Narrative
Math: Place value up to the millions (standard form, expanded form, word form), rounding
Social Studies: Map skills (map key, compass rose, identifying natural features on a math)
I look forward to another great week! Remember, the "star sheet" has started today for our behavior management system. A letter went home about it on Friday. Also, the reading logs came home Friday as well. I will collect them on September 1st. If your child finishes before then, please just leave it in your child's take home folder. Have a great week!
