Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is hard to believe that the last week of school is upon us.  We have had a wonderful school year and enjoyed working with each and every child in our classroom.  Next week we will celebrate the last week of school with some exciting activities.

Monday:  Regular educational day

Tuesday:  Game Day:  Your child may bring a fun game from home (no DS, Gameboys or other similar games).

Wednesday:  Autograph Day:  We will get together with all of the other 3rd grade classes for autographs.  With your permission, your child may wear his/her Blackwell t-shirt or another t-shirt and collect autographs on the shirt.  Yearbooks will also be distributed to those who placed an order.

Thursday:  We will picnic outside for lunch.  After lunch, we will enjoy fun in the sun.  Your child may bring in bubbles, sidewalk chalk or other outdoor games.  Please be sure to put sunscreen on your child or send it in for your child.

Friday:  Peachtree Brass Assembly, Ice Cream Party (thanks to the generous donations from the last ice cream party, we have all that we need!), Your child may bring in a can or a small bottle (no more than 20 oz.) of his/her favorite soda or drink.

Backpacks may NOT come to school on Friday.   Children who bring lunches each day need to bring it in a disposable sack.  Nothing is allowed to go home on the bus on the last day of school!

Don’t forget to send in a self-addressed envelope with 3 stamps for your child’s report card if you have not already done so.  Thank you!

As soon as we know anything about CRCT results, we will notify you!!  I know you are all anxious!!  We are too!

If you have any questions, please email us or write in your child’s agenda and we will get back to you!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday!  We have had a lot of fun learning about poetry, data collection and graphing this week to name a few.  Career Day was a success!  The children learned about a bunch of different “careers on wheels.”  We enjoyed learning what the children would like to be when they grow up.  Many of the kids dressed up as their career of choice and had a great time.

Here are some dates to remember:

Field Day is now on Thursday, May 14th:  Please have your child wear his/her Blackwell shirt.

Due to the change in field day, we had to change our “fun-raiser”.  The new date for the fun-raiser is Monday, May 18th at the end of the school day.  We have asked all of the children to donate $1.00 to participate in this fun filled afternoon with a movie, a special snack and to wear pajamas for the day.  Thank you to all of you who have already donated $1.00!  If everyone donates a dollar in the third grade, we will raise about $120.00 to go toward our Blackwell Foundation.  The Foundation raises money to help support Blackwell.  Right now, we are trying to raise enough to buy Smart Boards for every classroom.  Smart Boards are interactive boards that will benefit every child!

Volunteer Tea is on May 13th from 9:00 to 11:00 in our

Media

Center

.

May 19th:  Yearbooks will be given out to those who have ordered one.

May 20th:  Awards Ceremony at 8:30 am in the cafeteria.  We will notify you if your child is receiving an award for academics or attendance.

May 22nd:  Last day of school!

Report cards will be sent home this summer.  Please send in an 8 ½ by 11 self addressed envelope with 3 stamps.  A lot of information may come home so we would love to have an envelope big enough to hold everything.  If a stamped, self-addressed envelope is not sent in, you may come to the school this summer and pick up your child’s report card.  If you have an outstanding balance (cafeteria, ASP, lost library book), you will need to come to the school this summer to pick up your child’s report card.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mother’s and grandmothers!  We hope that you have a very special day!

Happy Spring!

We are really busy working on CRCT test prep skills.  We focus a lot of our day in small reading groups and math groups.  We have begun narrative writing and a lot of imagination is coming out from the children.

We will have spelling words next week for your child to work on each night.  Please also have your child work on the multiplication facts up to 10 X 10.  In math we have begun to work on multiplying 2 digit numbers by a 1 digit number.  The kids are excited about it.  We are also learning about magnets which has been fun for the kids.

Next Tuesday is picture day.  Please send in tennis shoes for P.E. if your child wears other shoes for his or her picture.

Another CRCT math practice packet is coming home today.  Please have your child do a little at a time so he/she does not feel overwhelmed.  It is due next Friday, March 27th.

Have a safe and beautiful weekend!
